The Smith and Nephew ALLEVYN™ Adhesive Sacrum Dressing is anatomically shaped to fit the Sacrum area of the lower back. It features a unique trilaminate construction with a perforated wound contact layer, a highly absorbent central hydrocellular layer, and a highly permeable waterproof outer film layer.
The Sacrum Dressing’s wound contact layer is coated with a low allergy adhesive designed to adhere well to intact skin, but not to wounds. It also allows even viscous exudate to pass into the dressing. The hydrocellular core of the dressing absorbs and holds liquid in its microscopic structure. The breathable outer surface of the dressing allows excess moisture to evaporate away from the dressing. This design allows for the formation of a wound environment where the wound can close uninterrupted without the need for frequent dressing changes.
ALLEVYN™ Sacrum Dressing features a profiled cross-section, narrowing to micro-thin edges. This helps the dressing remain securely in place and prevents accidental removal by friction that can occur between the dressing and surfaces like clothes or bedding.
The Dressing’s outer polyurethane layer prevents strike-through of excess exudate from the dressing, and reduces the chances of cross-contamination and wound infection. This improves patient comfort.
The ALLEVYN™ Sacrum Dressing is soft and cushioning for added patient comfort and protection.
These dressings are sterile.
