Dermanet is a lightweight net made from high-density polyethylene. The polymer is extruded, patterned and stretched to form a unique porous net that consists of polymer dots interconnected by thin polymer strands. The fine mesh structure of Dermanet makes it ideal for use in wound applications for several reasons:
Excellent non-adherent properties without compromising the flow of drainage from the wound
Inert (totally unreactive), non-linting
Adequate tensile strength without sacrificing the conformability and softness in a wound dressing
Air and fluid permeable
Action:
Interfaces between a wound and the dressing to protect the fragile healing tissue
Acts as a "liner" for deep wounds that need to be packed, assuring easy removal of packing material
Indications:
To protect burns, graft sites, donor sites and granulating dermal ulcers
To line deep wounds, (e.g. pressure sores, open incisions. etc.) before packing the wound
